Spring Cleaning the Blog

I was trapped on the recliner with a sleeping baby in my lap so I took the time to "spring clean" the blog. It definitely needed some sprucing up - and a name change. It's hard to believe how fast the time has flown by...no more baby blog...Claire's a toddler now! I hope everyone likes the new look!

And just in case you weren't ready to say goodbye to the sweet butterfly from the old header or were feeling nostalgic, here's a blast of headers past :-)

Launderer!

Is laundry truly a chore when you have such a sweet helper? Claire LOVES to help hang out clothes and since it's so warm and sunny lately I think we've only run the dryer once. This week is a bit of a wash though, it's been raining for days and days. I was running out of indoor play ideas when the basket of dress up clothes and some yarn gave me some inspritaion - an indoor clothesline! Claire hung up her cloths (and took them down, and hung them up...) for a solid 20 minutes. If you're a parent - you know how long that is! Hopefully the sun will show its face again soon and we can get back outside to our real line soon.

No Words - Just Cute Pictures!

Dress Up

Claire is at a stage where she loves to imitate what Mommy and Daddy are doing. She's eating with utensils, sweeping, passing me dishes when it's time to unload the dishwasher...it's all so sweet!

There are a few low shelves that Claire calls her own in our living room bookshelf. I have a bin set up with some shoes, pants and tons of hats. The polka dot reversible hat is my personal favorite, Daddy seems to like Claire in his Detroit Diesel hat with flames on the side.

Claire spends a lot of time in her "dress up" area, her fashion shows of mismatched outfits and shoes (clomp clomp clomp!) sure keep us laughing!

Wednesday

Vegan Cake, Yum!

Ewww! We're having some major septic issues over here, just to give you an idea my facebook status reads:

Regina thinks the water spewing from the septic lid is probably not the best "fountain" for her garden landscape. UGH!

Anyhow, I was relieved to notice a post on a friend's blog this morning. I'm saved! I can handle our mess here and not have to run out and take photos of Claire for some new blog content!

Sky G. runs a great blog over at Eats Well With Others dedicated to spreading the word about all the yummy vegan digs she checks out. Swing by and check out this entry, you might just see a photo of lil miss Claire!

By the way, I fixed the comment form (thanks GrandBob for pointing it out!) so feel free to leave us your thoughts!

Friday

Kids Only!

I have the fondest memories of playing in a Vito & Cathy's clubhouse as a kid. They were our neighbors across the street and we spent many afternoons holding secret society meetings and munching on wild onion grass and the anise that their mom grew. Having a space for the kids kept us out of trouble (for the most part) and gave us a sense of independence...not to mention all the fun we had!

From Claire's New Playhouse

I was so psyched to find someone giving away a playhouse their daughter outgrew, what luck! Here's Claire enjoying her new digs - it has the sweetest little table and kitchen sink with cupboards underneath. There are even tiny window boxes for flowers complete with drainage holes in case you wanted to plant something real in there.

Spring has definitely sprung here! All the daffodils are blooming and a few days ago Claire helped me plant some onions. We're going to get some spinach and peas in the ground soon. She's quite the helper with her small garden hoe although I'm having some trouble getting her to leave the dirt in the pots, she seems pretty bent on making mud pies in her new sink.

As you can tell we're really enjoying the warm weather even though we're battling bad head colds and allergies I'm trying to get us both some fresh air throughout the day. A few more pics below:

Wednesday

Easter 2009

Excuse Claire's hair in these videos, it far exceeds her regular disheveled look. We took a tour of all 5 boroughs of NYC this day since traffic was so bad coming from NJ. Claire slept most of the way (thank goodness) and had a major case of carseat-hairitis.

The rest of the videos are uploading (slooooowly) to Claire's YouTube channel. You can check out them out here: http://www.youtube.com/user/rcherill.

My Apologies!

Some new video footage of Claire and and our Easter festivities will be up soon, my camera lens took a nose dive and I'm eagerly awaiting the bill to fix that one (ha).

In the meantime, I've got the cutest video from Easter of Laurie and Claire playing Easter eggs like a couple of maracas, some egg hunting fun and Claire with her great-grandfather.

Of course this entry is just another example of a way to procrastinate...taxes are due today. Once those are done, I'll be back!

Stay tuned, the blogging hiatus will end soon!

Escapee!

Claire can fit through the cat door in our kitchen gate. Guess how I know?!

I've had to start locking Claire out of the kitchen when the dishwasher runs because she has now located the cancel button AND the door latch. Mid-cycle sneak peeks into the mysterious washer by a toddler who loves to splash in the water...yeah, not for the feint of heart. On the bright side of things, my floor is nice and shiny again!

As for the cats, Gecko is able to shimmy between the vertical rails of the baby gate to get to his food, but poor fat (and I mean FAT) Raymond is going to have to heft himself over the gate now. Poor kitty.

And since you're probably already laughing, this should add to the general hilarity of this post:

Monday

Busy Baby!

Claire loves to gather. Give her a basket and she'll happily place things inside and transport them to whatever make believe land she's got going in her mind. Lately she's been putting toys in her basket and chatting with them under the dining room table, it's so sweet to watch her little imagination blossom.

With the warm weather (finally!) the past couple of days, Claire has been busy piling all the patio rocks onto our chopping block outside. What a busy kid she is! With the few billion pebbles that make up our patio this should keep her busy ALL summer.

Wednesday

Mice?

Hmmmmm...Either we have some x-large mice or someone has been helping themselves at the fruit bowl.
