DIY Heart Stamp

DSC_0845
I’m sure I can’t be the first person to come up with this concept – but what a great (and frugal) alternative to the overpriced Valentine stamps at the local craft store. I mean, come on – $5 for a HEART?

I raided the container of $1 foam hearts (with stickers!) from Target and stuck them on Claire’s blocks. I doubled them up to make sure the surface was really raised, makes stamping things easier for the chubby-fisted toddler in my life.
DSC_0855Et voila! A stamp on the cheap. There are about 300 hearts in that dollar tub and the blocks were a garage sale find, it doesn’t get much better than that.

Stick your foam to a spoon, a rock, a stick – whatever! And don’t think this is limited to hearts. Oh no! I have plans for shamrocks and letters and boats and animals…

You’ll find me stalking that bargain center in Target. I’ll be the crazy lady with ink on my hands and a kitchen that looks like cupid’s moved in.

Just keeping it real. We’re a little Valentine obsessed over here if you haven’t noticed.

  4. Thanks for sharing such a wonderful and cheap idea! The stamp idea is just great. I have to spend more time in that area at Target! I can't seem to get out of that store without dropping $100 so I've been staying away...but may need to visit that spot.

  5. Luckily the dollar section is right near the entrance...making it to the checkout area without buying anything else is on you, Tracey LOL!

There are a ton of great finds right now - they have foam alphabet stickers that I stocked up on too. They're way cheaper then at the craft store and would be great for scrapbooking or labeling.

Take care and thanks for reading!

  6. This is a great idea! We are charged with building a Valentine's Day box for my son's first grade class and this might come in handy.

And I just love the Target $1 section ... you can find so much different stuff there. I always check it out when I visit (which is way more than I should).

  7. Great idea! Reminded me of an arts organization that did that for an arts day and they had the kids pick from a wide variety of foam stickers. They didn't have the wood blocks though, like you did. I like your idea because they are more kid-durable and would last longer than what we made.
